La Clinique de la mutation is a walking performance that will take place across a dozen spaces – both indoors and outdoors – at le Corridor (Centre for Creation and Research in the Performing Arts) in Liège. Each space will serve as a setting for the presentation of a wonderfully unsettling ‘ ’ relationship between a human and a mutant. The mutant will be either an animal or a plant.
In a henhouse, Zélie, a very distracted little girl, meets a two-headed goose. Hidden in a hut by the pond, Ralph, a fugitive on the run, is in love with ‘Frida’, an eleven-kilo fly. In the undergrowth, little Paul sings songs to a spikeless hedgehog. Marcelle chases seven-legged spiders in an attic. Ernest, a grumpy shepherd, discovers a long-necked sheep in a barn, and so on.
La Clinique de la mutation is an allegorical show that invites the audience to step straight into the uncanny strangeness of a world in the midst of transformation. The world is changing around us, but also within us. What tools do we have at our disposal to forge a joyful, powerful, profound identity that is in tune with and open to the new ways of living that await us?
