Show premiered in March 2024 at the KVS
Thirty years ago, Michael De Cock came across a poster that would leave a lasting impression on him: a little boy holding a flute, accompanied by a simple yet profound question – “Can art save the world?”. It was 1993, Antwerp was European Capital of Culture, and this question has haunted him ever since.
Today, the former artistic director of the KVS and new general director of the Théâtre de Liège attempts to answer it with Paris & Miki. He engages in dialogue with the audience and presents his ‘ars poetica’: his vision of the world, the state of democracy and (the importance of) art.
In this captivating one-man show, he takes us on an artistic odyssey full of unexpected twists: from Tomorrowland, the famous Belgian electronic music festival, to behind the scenes at the KVS. Set against a road-movie-style backdrop, Michael De Cock sings, dances and tells stories – a night out in Brussels alongside Paris Hilton.
An intimate and rich journey, blending stories, music and imagination.
Because, deep down, one thing is certain: without imagination, we are (almost) worthless.
Following a tour in Dutch and a summer in Avignon, Michael De Cock presents a calling card to kick off the year.
When Michael De Cock speaks, the Rue de la Loi listens.
